Care Alliance for Workforce Development (CAWD)

ICG is working with North Yorkshire County Council, the Wilf Ward Family Trust and other partners in the Care Alliance for Workforce Development for North Yorkshire and York.

CAWD is an alliance of care employers and interested parties who have come together to promote workforce development and provide targeted information and support to all those involved in social care. We work in partnership with Skills for Care.

Our activities focus on:

  • Recruitment and retention
  • Work based learning
  • Leadership and Management
  • The National Minimum Dataset (NMDS)
  • Skills for Life (literacy and numeracy)

Our aim will be to support employers to access the information and funding they need to develop their staff in line with the principles of:

  • Personalisation, and
  • Dignity

Other key partners in CAWD include City of York Council, Jobcentre Plus, Selby College, North Yorkshire Learning Consortium, Avalon, Tyro Training and St Anne’s Community Services.

Our CAWD care provider events held in York, Harrogate, Northallerton, Scarborough, and Selby have proved to be extremely successful with evaluation showing that providers have found them very informative. More events are planned.

CAWD supports Care Ambassadors

Care Ambassadors people who work in social care and feel passionately abou their work. Through the Care Ambassador scheme they receive training and support to go to events and meetings, for example in schools and colleges and Jobcentre Plus offices to promote the social care sector and recruit for their organisation. If you would like to know more please contact Michael Watt at michael.watt@northyorks.gov.uk.

CAWD is funded by the Yorkshire and Humberside Joint Improvement Partnership.
